Southern California Gas Company Litigation Update

We would like to provide an important status update regarding the ongoing lawsuit titled Alexander Gharchloo, et al. v Southern California Gas Company, et al., Case No. 22STCV37307. If you or your child/children are included in this case, please take a moment to read this update carefully.

Litigation Progress

The litigation continues to move forward. Recently, plaintiffs were asked to comply with various Court Orders, specifically related to statute of limitations discovery and the completion of New Plaintiff Questionnaires. Defendants have been reviewing the submissions made by each plaintiff. During this review, some plaintiffs have been identified by Defendants as potentially subject to dismissal due to statute of limitations issues. If you fall into this category, we will contact you directly to discuss the next steps. If you have not heard from us about this, it means that Defendants have not identified you as having any statute of limitations issues.

New Plaintiff Questionnaires and Potential Dismissals

Defendants have also been examining the New Plaintiff Questionnaire submissions. A list of plaintiffs who have not submitted their questionnaires has been prepared, and a meet and confer process has been initiated. Defendants have started requesting Orders to Show Cause for non-submitting plaintiffs, essentially seeking the dismissal of those they believe fall outside the relevant statute of limitations. Only a small number of plaintiffs represented by our firm may be subject to dismissal for failing to submit their questionnaires. If you have not been contacted by us regarding this matter, it means that your New Plaintiff Questionnaire has been submitted, and no issues have been raised by Defendants. If we have reached out to you separately and you have not yet responded, please contact our office immediately.

Status Conference Update

A Status Conference was held on August 2, 2024, where the above issues were discussed. The discussions also covered the next steps in the litigation process, including whether the plaintiffs listed in the complaint will be included in a potential settlement and how that process will proceed. We appreciate your continued patience as we navigate these proceedings.

Moving Forward

We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our office. Your involvement and prompt responses are crucial as we move forward in this case.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
