We want to keep you informed about the ongoing litigation in Aguilera, et al. v. So Cal Edison, et al., Los Angeles Superior Court Case No. 23STCV02812. Please read this update carefully to stay up to date on the latest developments.
Current Status of the Case
As we shared in our last update, damages discovery has been completed, and the process of selecting bellwether plaintiffs for trial is underway. A bellwether plaintiff or household is chosen as a representative for a larger group and serves as a test case to help predict how the broader litigation might proceed. Twelve bellwether cases have already been selected. If you or your household were chosen, we’ve already contacted you. If you haven’t heard from us, it means you were not selected in this initial round. There’s no need to worry whether or not you were chosen.
Due to various factors, some of the originally selected bellwether plaintiffs or households will be replaced. The attorneys representing all plaintiffs are working together to conduct a second random selection of six additional bellwether plaintiffs or households. If you or your household is selected, we will reach out to you directly.
Upcoming Court Dates
On June 17, 2024, the court held a status conference to discuss these matters. The Court has set a trial date for the first group of bellwether plaintiffs on April 29, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., with a Final Status Conference scheduled for April 8, 2025, at 1:45 p.m. A second trial date for the remaining bellwether plaintiffs has been set for May 19, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. If you or your household has been selected, we will provide you with more detailed information as it becomes available.
Additionally, a Case Management Conference has been scheduled for November 14, 2024, at 1:45 p.m. With the trial dates now set, we are hopeful that settlement discussions may begin soon, leading to a resolution of these cases.
